Enhancing Second-Grade Students' English Vocabulary Through Picture Card Media: A Classroom Action Research Study

Abstract
This research aims to enhance the mastery of English vocabulary through the use of picture card media among second-grade students at Excellent Mandiri School, Kota Jambi, in the second semester of the 2019/2020 academic year. This Classroom Action Research (CAR) was conducted over three cycles, each comprising four stages: planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The improvement in students' English vocabulary mastery was evident from the initial stage. In the first cycle, the average vocabulary mastery was 64.06, with a success rate of 56.25%. In the second cycle, the average student score increased to 72.5, with a success rate of 75%. In the third cycle, the average score further increased to 87.5, with a success rate of 81.2% of students achieving scores above the minimum passing grade. Therefore, it can be concluded that English language learning using picture card media can effectively improve the mastery of English vocabulary among second-grade students at Excellent Mandiri School, Kota Jambi.
