https://jurnal.iaima.ac.id/i-efl/article/view/68

This study focuses on assessing the needs of fifth-semester students at the Faculty of Tadris and Education, Muhammad Adzim Islamic University Jambi, in the context of designing questionnaires for survey research methods. Data were gathered through observations and questionnaires, with the reliability of the instrument assessed using Cronbach's Alpha analysis (resulting in a reliability coefficient of 0.927, indicating questionnaire reliability). The study uncovered several key findings. Firstly, it was observed that the Research Methodology course allocated more time to practical data analysis and foundational research concepts, with limited time dedicated to explaining the intricacies of designing effective questionnaires. Additionally, students faced critical challenges when crafting questionnaires, including: 1) a lack of understanding in determining relevant variables, 2) difficulty in selecting appropriate measurement scales for questionnaire items, and 3) a deficiency in comprehending procedures for establishing validity and reliability. The findings suggest that students would benefit from a deeper understanding of crucial aspects such as identifying grand theories in research and selecting clear variables. Consequently, the study recommends further research, specifically the development of a "questionnaire development guide module" to address these educational gaps and enhance students' questionnaire design skills. This module could serve as a valuable resource for both students and educators, fostering a more comprehensive understanding of survey research methods and questionnaire design.
Mifthahul NurzanahMunawaroh MunawarohAlbert Papi Laya

https://jurnal.iaima.ac.id/i-efl/article/view/72

Creative thinking is an important skill in learning for students. Students are able to think creatively by showing new ways of thinking, having the courage to ask questions and guess answers, and providing new ideas. This research aims to analyze creative thinking skills using series of image media. This research uses descriptive qualitative research with a case study model. The subjects of this research were 50 class III students. Data analysis in this research uses Miles and Huberman theory. This research method uses interviews to follow up on these findings. Interviews were conducted to find out the problems that occurred. The interview used is a structured interview. Overall research results, the results of creative thinking skills in writing essays using series of image media still need to be re-evaluated. Students still seem to have difficulty expressing ideas into narrative-based writing. This will result in learning to write narratives being hampered. It is proven that more than half of the sample of students still do not meet the four aspects of creative thinking indicators, so this will certainly hinder the learning process in class, especially with regard to writing skills. The implications of this research are that it is hoped that all stakeholders will be able to realize the importance of creative thinking skills from an early age by training students using series of image media or other media.
Cut PutriMunawaroh MunawarohNurhayati Nurhayati

The annual English debate competition for National High Schools in Indonesia is more than just an academic contest; it serves as a platform for instilling positive values and fostering national unity. This study explores the objectives and structure of this competition as outlined in the guidebook published by the Directorate of High School Education. The competition aims to introduce and disseminate positive values inherent in debating, such as appreciating differences, analytical thinking, effective presentation, teamwork, and critical examination of various issues. Additionally, it provides a medium for students to express their opinions and engage in constructive discourse. Another key objective is to integrate these values into the Indonesian education system and promote inter-provincial relationships. The competition's structure involves a tiered selection process, beginning at the school level, progressing through district/city and provincial levels, and culminating in a national event. This process not only ensures the representation of the best debaters from each province but also strengthens connections between different regions of Indonesia. The study highlights the competition's role in enhancing students' skills and contributing to the broader educational and societal goals of Indonesia.
Teguh AdimartaNini Sastra AtmajaRama Juni Pratama PutraSalsa Ayu Amelia
