“We Don’t Use It; Therefore, We Don’t Know”: Teachers’ and Students’ Perceptions of ICT Enactment in Indonesian English Language Teaching
Main Article Content
Abstract
Given the sparse discussions on teachers’ and students’ perceptions of ICT integration in their English classes in the Indonesian schooling sectors, this study attempts to navigate this issue by surveying 45 respondents consisting of 18 English teachers in secondary schools and 27 students. The survey questionnaire was disseminated online using Google online survey platform. To construe the data qualitatively, we employed thematic analysis and found one major constructed theme from the respondents’ responses: we don’t use it; therefore, we don’t know. The results of this study unveiled that most of the respondents, being far from our expectations, were not engaged in the ICT integration in their classes. This is evident from their negative voices. The findings also inform that their perceptions would impact on their practices in ICT learning engagement.
